Southampton line up January move for McDonald Mariga

30 October 2013 - 14:30

Southampton are keen on signing Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga during the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mirror.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Mariga, who is the brother of Victor Wanyama, was close to a switch to Premier League big spenders Manchester City three seasons ago, only for the transfer to be cancelled due to City's failure to secure a work permit for the Kenyan International.

The 26-year-old midfielder who has featured 33 times for the Kenyan national side, is considered highly by the Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is confident of luring the player to St. Mary's to link up with his brother Wanyama during the winter transfer window.
