Arsenal monitoring Japanese starlet Yoichiro Kakitani

31 October 2013 - 07:07

Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Japanese midfielder Yoichiro Kakitani, according to The Daily Star.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The 23-year old has been in impressive form for Cerezo Osaka this season having scored 17 goals in the J-league so far.

The Gunners boss is known for his intricate knowledge of the Japanese League, having worked with Nagoya Grampus Eight as a manager during the 1995-1996 season.

Having drafted the likes of former star Junichi Inamoto and current Gunners winger Ryo Miyaichi to the Emirates, Wenger could now be set to add Japanese midfield sensation Kakitani to his squad, as he tries to salvage a trophy for the North London club after an 8 year wait.

Arsenal will have to fight off interest from the likes of Inter Milan and Galatasaray to land the player's signature come the January transfer window.
