Barcelona to make surprise January bid for Dimitar Berbatov?

19 November 2013 - 11:48

Barcelona are pondering a surprise January swoop for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov as they look to fill the void left by Lionel Messi's injury.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The four-time Ballon d'Or winner is expected to miss atleast two to three months of first-team football after suffering a hamstring injury during the club's 4-1 win over Real Betis in the La Liga.

Manager Gerardo Martino is expected to work with the likes of Neymar and Alexis Sanchez at the front, but is looking for an experienced back-up to strengthen his strikeforce during the Argentine's absence.

The Daily Express claims that the Spanish giants are considering a move for the Bulgarian forward during the winter transfer window, as he is considered the cheapest alternative to solve the striker crisis.
