Arsenal boss rules out move for Robert Pires and Thierry Henry

Arsenal boss rules out move for Robert Pires and Thierry Henry

26 November 2013 - 08:42

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told reporters that there will be no emotional return for French duo Robert Pires and Thierry Henry, despite the veteran duo both joining the club for training sessions in recent days.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Thierry Henry is currently in the offseason period from his team the New York Red Bulls and Robert Pires has been retired for some time, but that hasn't stopped the press from linking both with another spell at Arsenal.

Wenger has ruled out moves for both though, insisting neither will be joining the club on a short term nor a permanent deal.

"They (former players) like to come back to Arsenal, to practise," said Wenger.

"When they can join in, they do. They integrate well with the spirit of the team, nothing more than that.

"They have no real target to bring something, they just want to enjoy themselves and keep their fitness. Usually they don't practise with the first team, because they come in and work on fitness.

"When we have some room we invite them to play with us but usually they train separately to us."
