Passarella leaves River

Passarella leaves River

17 November 2007 - 12:11

Daniel Passarella has left River Plate. The legendary manager left the River Plate post with Jorge Gordillo taking temporary charge of the team for the remaining three Apertura games.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • River now begin their search for a replacement, with a number of managers linked with the position, including Carlos Bianchi, Diego Simeone, Americo Gallego and Enzo Francescoli.

Bianchi is thought to be River's first choice, but seems unwilling to take the job, due to his strong ties with their fierce rivals Boca Juniors.

Beyond Bianchi, it seems to be a pretty open race, although Diego Simeone is considered by some to be the favourite if Bianchi does turn down River's offer.
