Chelsea will apparently make a transfer offer for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia, if the club allow the sale of David Luiz during the winter transfer window.

Brazilian International centre-back David Luiz has been constantly associated with a switch to La Liga giants Barcelona and the Spanish champions are expected to make a January bid for the talented defender, who the club consider as a long-term replacement for Carles Puyol.<br />

According to The Mirror, the Blues boss Jose Mourinho has identified Ranocchia, as somebody to pursue as Luiz's potential exit would leave them short in the defensive department.<br />

The 25-year-old Italian centre-back has made 11 Serie A appearances for Inter this season.
