West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has admitted that he regrets the signing of the England International Andy Carroll during the summer.
Sullivan has expressed that he would not have made an attempt to sign Andy Carroll, had he known that the striker was going to be on the sidelines for the first half of the Premier League season.
Carroll joined the London club for a club record fee of £15m fee during the summer, but has not made an appearance for the club this season because of injury. The 24-year-old forward who was initially injured with a heel problem, failed to make his return to the first-team, as he suffered from a double fracture in his right foot while training.
"Had we known he would be out for this long, we would not have signed him," Sullivan said. "We are not a rich enough club to deal with that. You know any player can get injured, but we can't buy a player knowing he is going to be out for half the season.
"When we signed him we were assured by the medical staff that the very, very latest he would be back was September 1. That would have meant he would only miss two league games."
Carroll amassed 7 goals in 24 appearances for West Ham on loan last season.
