Frank De Boer new frontrunner for Tottenham job

19 December 2013 - 12:40

Ajax manager Frank De Boer is the newest frontrunner for the vacant Spurs job. The Dutchman has been in charge at Amsterdam since 2010 and Dutch media have now claimed Daniel Levy has requested permission to speak to the former international defender.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • De Boer has had a very successful three years in Amsterdam and is the new favourite to take over from Andre Villas-Boas, who was removed from his role only this week in a surprise move by chairman Daniel Levy.

According to reports, Tottenham want to bring in De Boer as the new head coach and Ajax have already sounded out current assistant manager Dennis Bergkamp about the possibility of him taking over. Frank Rijkaard has also been suggested as a possible replacement.

Tottenham are hopeful that a new manager can be brought in before the weekend so that the focus can shift towards potential new signings in the January transfer window.

Should De Boer move to Spurs, he will be re-united with two of his former players Christian Eriksen and Jan Verthongen at White Hart Lane.
