Chelsea make bid for Gonzalo Higuain of £50 million

03 January 2014 - 10:15

Chelsea have made a fresh bid for Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain. The Napoli striker has only recently joined Italian club Napoli and attracted the interest of Arsenal last summer.

  • Having had an original bid for Higuain rejected by Napoli, Chelsea are set to renew their interest in the striker and are now set to up their bid to £50 million.

The Blues' manager Jose Mourinho is confident that bringing in a new forward will be the final missing piece in the jigsaw for his side to mount a title challenge this season.

Higuain has been in sterling form since arriving in Italy from Real Madrid and that form has persuaded Mourinho that the Argentine is the right man for his club. The form of Chelsea's current strikers concerns the Portuguese manager and a bid will now be made for Higuain.
