Alex Buttner not departing Man Utd this January

06 January 2014 - 12:35

Manchester United's left back Alex Buttner has no plans to quit Old Trafford in favour of a move elsewhere this January. The Dutchman had been linked with a big money move to Galatasaray.

  • However, Buttner is happy to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford as there remains some question marks regarding the long term future of first choice full back Patrice Evra.

Buttner played some part during the 2-1 defeat to Swansea City in the FA Cup on Saturday and now wants to fight for his place and force his way into David Moyes' first team plans.

"I don’t want to leave. I want to fight for my place. I’m still young and I know what I can do. I just have to wait for my chances and take them. If people talk about other players in my position, I don’t care. I just want to play my game and show that I can handle the level. I know there are some clubs that want me but I’m happy here and want to play for Manchester United so I focus 100 percent on here," said Buttner.
