Jermain Defoe signs for Toronto FC

Major League Soccer outfitToronto FC has succesfully completed the signing of English international Jermain Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur.

  • Defoe had been on the fringes of the first team under former manager Andre Villas-Boas, following the arrival of summer signing Roberto Soldado.



    The club managed by former Spurs player Ryan Nelsen, are expected to unveil their new signing by Monday, having agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the services of Jermain Defoe, following weeks of speculation on the switch.



    The Toronto Sun reports that the 31-year-old will be unveiled as the club's Designated Player.



    Jermain Defoe has made over 350 appearances for Spurs in all competitions.
