Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner is reportedly considered a top transfer target for West Bromwich Albion's new manager Pepe Mel in the winter transfer window.

  • The former Birmingham star is said to be one of the players in the transfer shortlist drawn up by Baggies' technical director Richard Garlick.

According to The Mirror, Gardner could be open to a move to the Baggies, as his family currently live in the Midlands.

The report also claims that the Baggies may allow the sale of Graham Dorrans in order to secure the services of the talented midfielder this month.

Gardner joined Sunderland from Birmingham City a fee of £6m in 2011.
