Keeper Set for Schalke exit

16 January 2014 - 19:09

Schalke Keeper Timo Hilderbrand is set to leave the club in the summer. The contract of the 34 year old is up in the summer and will not be renewed.

  • Chelsea handed big injury boost for Bayern clash
  • Fernandes unhappy with Man Utd role under Amorim

  • Hilderbrand has been a regular for the club and has made 20 appearances this season in all competitions.

Speaking to club’s official website general manager Horst Heldt said,

"He has an important share in the successes of the past two-and-a-half years with third and fourth place in the Bundesliga, the first knockout round in the Champions League and reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League,"

"In addition, he has always identified with Schalke and this was made unequivocally clear.

"Our task, however, is to mainly affect decisions for the future. I am quite sure that this will not change his impeccable commitment to Schalke 04."

The former Germany international joined Schalke in 2011 from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.
