The Gunners have been linked with a £5.5 million move for Bordeaux attacker Henri Saivet. The highly rated 23-year-old has been watched by Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi.

The Senegal international has long been praised as one of the brightest prospects of his generation but has so far failed to make the move to one of Europe's biggest teams, despite the interest of Arsenal and Liverpool in the past.

The Gunners are hoping to sign at least one attacking player prior to the closure of the January transfer window and are optimistic that Ligue 1 team Bordeaux will accept their intiial offer.

Saivet, who is the youngest player in the history of Bordeaux to play for the club, has scored 3 goals in 9 Championnat games so far this year and the club's manager Francis Gillot is open to offers for the versatile player.
