Martin Keown doubts Arsenals chances of landing German Superstar

Keown : 'Arsenal need a ready-made player'

Martin Keown doubts Arsenal's chances of landing German Superstar

26 January 2014 - 04:59

Arsenal Legend Martin Keown has admitted that the Gunners are unlikely to secure the services of Julian Draxler in the winter transfer window.

  • Chelsea ready to pay £87m to sign Lautaro Martinez
  • Chelsea winger absent for PSG trip with hamstring injury
  • The North London club have been linked with a move for Draxler since the start of the transfer window, but Keown believes that the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is likely to wait until the summer before splashing cash for the talented German international.

"If Arsenal are going to buy a player now, it's got to be a ready-made player, like Mesut Ozil was," Keown said. "Wenger is the sort of manager who deals himself a hand at the start of the season, and then plays it.

"He doesn't like dipping in [to the market in January]. They'll be saving their money for an Ozil-like signing in the summer."

Arsenal are currently at the top of the Premier League standings with 51 points.
