Scocco joins the Black Cats

Sunderland sign Ignacio Scocco

30 January 2014 - 13:29

Sunderland have successfully landed the services of Argentine striker Ignacio Scocco from Internacional for an undisclosed fee.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Black Cats had failed in a pursuit for Scocco earlier in the summer, but renewed interest during this month, with the player believed to be unhappy at Internacional.

The 28-year-old forward has sealed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Wearside outfit, following an out-of-colour season with Internacional, where scored just three goals in 17 appearances this term.

The striker becomes manager Gus Poyet's fourth capture of the winter transfer window, following the likes of Marcos Alonso,Oscar Ustari and Santiago Vergini to the Wearside.
