Villa deny that the club is up for sale

Aston Villa Chief Executive Paul Faulkner has brushed aside the rumours that the club owner Randy Lerner is willing to sell the club. The American bought the club for £62.6 million in 2006 and has since on to invest close to quarter of a million pounds into the club.

  • Rumours over the weekend had suggested that Lerner was willing to sell the club for a whopping £200 million having previously sold his NFL franchise the Cleveland Browns for an estimated £1 billion.



    This is what Paul Faulker who has been in touch with the owner on daily basis had to say about the rumours,



    “I can categorically confirm that Aston Villa Football Club has absolutely not been put up for sale and that Randy Lerner is not actively looking to sell the club,”



    Aston Villa have endured a couple of tough seasons in the Premier league over the last two years and currently sit tenth in the table.
