Chelsea break Man City's winning streak

03 February 2014 - 23:52

Chelsea have ended Manchester City's Premier League winning streak of eight games as they earned a 1-0 victory at the Etihad on Monday.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The Blues became the first club to take points from the Citizens at Manchester, as they produced a stunning defensive display under manager Jose Mourinho.

Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic scored the winning goal for the Blues as he fired an unstoppable left-foot shot from 20 yards in the 32nd minute, leaving the Etihad faithful stunned.

In spite of Manchester City pressing hard for a goal, the West London club held their nerve, as Petr Cech made a couple of excellent saves to deny the Citizens a way back into the game.

Chelsea are currently placed 3rd in the Premier League, two points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
