Dutch striker Luuk De Jong wants to remain at Newcastle United beyond the current season. The striker is only on loan from German club Borussia Monchengladbach until the end of the season.

  • The striker endured two tough seasons at Gladbach and was club’s fourth choice striker this season. The Magpies had previously tried to sign the 23 year old while he was at Dutch club FC Twente.

This is what the Dutch International had to say,

"I'm really happy to be here playing for such a great club," De Jong, who was Newcastle's only January signing, told the Shields Gazette.

"Hopefully, I'll play for the club for a long time, and in the summer I can stay. That's my goal, of course. We'll see what happens.

De Jong made his Newcastle debut in the last week’s 3-0 home defeat to local rivals Sunderland.
