Ronaldo banned for three games

05 February 2014 - 14:06

Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for three games after he was shown a red card against Basque club Athletic Bilbao in a 1-1 draw on Sunday. The club have said that they will appeal the ban.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The three game ban that the Portuguese receives includes penalty for him gesturing at the fourth official while leaving the pitch. Reports in Spain suggest that one game is for being sent off and the other two for gesturing.

As things stand the 29-year-old will miss out on La Liga games with Villarreal, Getafe and Elche. However, he is available for both legs of Cop Del Rey Semi finals against city rivals Atletico Madrid.

The appeal against the ban will be heard on Friday 7th of February.
