Anelka: my Arsenal regret

Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka has revealed his regret at leaving Arsenal at a crucial time in his career. The French striker left the London club to join Real Madrid in a shadow of controversy, and Anelka has admitted that he should've perhaps stayed a little longer.

  • He told The Sun: "If you look now at the situation Arsenal are in and look at where I am, then you could say maybe I should have stayed."



    He added: "Of course, I would like to play in that team. Which striker wouldn't want to be part of a team that plays such amazing football?



    "But the way they are playing, who's to say I'd even get in that team?"



    Anelka left Arsenal for Real Madrid in a shadow of controversy after Arsene Wenger allowed the talented striker to leave.



    Wenger has since said that he would in be interested in bringing back Anelka to the club.
