Manchester United had reportedly failed to secure the services of Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis during the recently concluded transfer window.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, manager David Moyes was keen on signing the left-back in January, with veteran French star Patrick Evra likely to depart in the summer on a free transfer.
However, it is understood that the Red Devils' bid worth £16.6m was rebuffed by the La Liga giants, as neither the club nor the player were interested by the transfer offer.
28-year-old Luiz has been a regular at Atletico Madrid since joining the club from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2010.
