17 February 2014 - 23:24

Liverpool are understood to be monitoring the progress of Sheffield United defender Harry Maguire, with a view to a summer move for the player.

  • The Daily Mail claims that the Reds manager Brendan Rodgers had send scout Neil Richardson to watch the 20-year-old in action during the Blades' famous 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup during the weekend.

Maguire who has been dubbed 'the new John Terry' has attracted interest from high-profile clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks and is likely to be the subject of a bidding war come the end of the season.

Sheffield United are apparently willing to let go of their star defender for a fee of around£5m.
