Michael Laudrup: left confused by Swansea axe

Swansea parted company with Laudrup via email

19 February 2014 - 06:26

Former Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has sensationally revealed that he was fired by the club via e-mail. The Dane has admitted that he was indeed confused after the club disposed of his services and moved quickly to bring in Garry Monk.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • Laudrup was let go by the Welsh club for an alleged breach of contract, which left many of the club's fans surprised by management's decision to part company with the Danish manager.

"What surprised me is that I had the meeting on Tuesday, but already on Monday the things I spoke to the chairman about were in the papers. I leave that with the chairman," Laudrup said.

"However, we ended up saying we had to stay together. We shook hands. Later that afternoon I received a mail saying due to breach of contract, with immediate effect they would terminate [my contract] -- just a few hours after we shook hands."
