Ilkay Gundogan extends Borussia Dortmund deal

19 April 2014 - 07:57

Purported Man Utd target Ilkay Gundogan has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until the end of the 2016 season. The talented midfielder has long been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Jurgen Klopp, BVB's manager, has been long hoping to agree a new deal with Gundogan and has even threatened to think about his own future unless the club are able to agree terms with their talisman German star Gundogan.

The 23-year-old is currently fighting for a place in Germany's World Cup squad this summer as he recovers from injury.

Klopp said of Gundogan's ongoing injury issues:  "It's getting better all the time. But as bitter as it is for all involved, especially for Ilkay, you just need to accept that this thing needs time."
