Manchester United are apparently monitoring the progress of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, with a view to a club-record bid for his services this summer.

The talented Argentine international has been in top form for the Catalan outfit over the past few years, and has notched up an impressive tally of 39 goals in 42 appearances for Barca in spite of injuries this season.

 

The 26-year-old is understood to be unsettled at the Nou Camp and his body language on the pitch over the past few weeks gives the clear indication of his discontent with life at the Catalan club.

 

According to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, United are tracking the progress of Messi and could make a move for his signature during the summer transfer window.

 

United confirmed the sacking of manager David Moyes earlier today.
