Fabianski could start in the FA Cup final

"Fabianski deserves to play the FA Cup final": Szczesny

06 May 2014 - 07:46

Arsenal's current number one Wojciech Szczesny has admitted that his team-mate Lukasz Fabianski deserves the right to play in the FA Cup final.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Reports earlier had revealed that the Szczesny was desperate to play in the Wembley showpiece against Hull City on May 17.

However, the Pole has now admitted that his goalkeeping rival deserves to feature for one last time for the Gunners, following his heroics in the penalty shoot-out win over Wigan in the semi-final last month.

“I speak with Lukasz but I haven’t spoken to the boss about it. There’s no banter (with Lukasz)." Szczesny said. "Look, we’re both professional and we would both love to play in the cup final. It’s the boss’s decision to make, not an easy one, because there is a No.1 at the club and a goalkeeper who is the reason we are in the FA Cup Final.”

Fabianski looks set to leave the North London club in the summer, having rebuffed numerous contract offers.
