Sunderland to bid for Steven Caulker

10 May 2014 - 10:30

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has hinted that he is considering a transfer move for Cardiff City centre back Steven Caulker in the summer transfer window. With just one game left to play this season and Cardiff set for relegation to the Championship, Caulker is ready to open talks with his agent about a move to another Premier League side.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager
  • The centre back has already suggested that he would like to leave Wales for a move elsewhere quickly. Caulker is rumoured to have been given the green light to be a part of Roy Hodgson's provisional England squad for the World Cup and so is hoping to secure a move to ensure his long term international ambitions are not jeopardised. Sunderland will make an enquiry after this weekend's final game of the season.
