Liverpool are reportedly set to open up their interest in signing Chelsea defender Ashley Cole this summer, according to The Metro.

The former England international, who is out of contract this summer, revealed that he is unlikely to be offered a new deal at the West London club.

 

The Metro claims that Red boss Brendan Rodgers has identified the veteran defender as a possible option to strengthen the club's defence this summer, as he aims to find the perfect mix of youth and experience in his squad for the next campaign.

 

Cole has made 340 appearances for the Blues in all competitions so far.
