Midfielder Lars Bender will not be a part of Germany's World Cup preparations after picking up an injury. The German star will now be left at home ahead of the well fancied side's tournament.
"When a player is ruled out so close to a tournament it is very disappointing for everyone," said manager Joachim Loew. "I feel very sorry for Lars on a personal level – I know that he was desperate to be there in Brazil."
