West Ham seal move for Mauro Zarate

29 May 2014 - 13:15

West Ham have wrapped up a move to sign Argentina international forward Mauro Zarate from Velez Sarsfield. The former Birmingham City player has signed a three year contract at Upton Park, with the option of a further year.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • Zarate has been hugely successful in recent seasons back home in his native Argentina and the 27-year-old is delighted to have made the return to English football.

"My reaction is that I am very happy to be at West Ham," said the forward. "This is a new chance for me and I want to play.

"I think I played well for Velez this season and that was important for me. I had some good team-mates and they helped to make it a fantastic season for me. If you ask me what I can bring to the squad then I say I hope I will bring goals. I will also bring dribbling skills and other attacking qualities."
