Frank Lampard weighs up future options

31 May 2014 - 07:43

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has told reporters that he plans to continue playing professional football for at least another two seasons. The England international is however sure he will not be playing for the Blues next season.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • Lampard, a member of England's World Cup 2014 squad, is adamant that he can play at the highest level of top football for another two seasons. Chelsea are planning a major overhaul of their squad this summer and the 35-year-old was amongst the top names released.

"I don't know if I'll be at Chelsea next season. I'd like to carry on for two or three more years but it would be good to end on a high," said Lampard.

"So, if that means it all ends tomorrow, I wouldn't have any regrets. You know your shelf-life, so I started to mentally prepare when I hit 30.

"I've been doing this for a long time, so there's a part of me that's looking forward to the future."
