Louis van Gaal almost took Tottenham job

03 June 2014 - 05:37

Newly appointed Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has sensationally revealed that he almost took the Tottenham managerial role.

  • Man Utd expecting €80m boost with double player sale
  • Confirmed Liverpool line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Galatasaray, Salah starts

  • Van Gaal, the former Barcelona manager, is currently in charge of the Dutch national team and will move to Man Utd as soon as this summer's tournament is over.

However, Van Gaal has sensationally revealed that he almost took the Spurs job.

"It was very close, very close," said Van Gaal of a potential move to Tottenham. "As a little boy I was a fan of Tottenham Hotspur with the team of Jimmy Greaves when he was the champion. Jimmy Greaves was my idol. They had fantastic white shirts. So I was very close."
