Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picks up knee injury in England friendly

England have been dealt a severe blow after the injury sustained to Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. In a 2-2 draw with Ecuador, the Three Lions lost their influential midfielder and the player will undergo scans this afternoon.

  • The youngster's World Cup dreams remain in tatters and now England will seek a replacement for their World Cup squad.



    "We have our fears there might be some ligament damage," Hodgson told reporters. "His knee buckled under the challenge as the player turned into him," Hodgson added in his post-match press conference. "He'll have a scan, I'd imagine. When we've had the scan, we'll know more."
