Bayern Munich and France international winger Franck Ribery will be missing from the World Cup after the player sustained a back injury.
There were high hopes that the 31-year-old would prove to be one of France's best players at the tournament, but manager Didier Deschamps will be left evaluating his options after the injury to the winger.
“He had to come to a complete stop during sprint exercises after feeling serious pain,” said Deschamps. “Everything led us to conclude that it is impossible for him to resume training within a few weeks, let alone play a match.”
