Birmingham want Melli

Birmingham want Melli

02 December 2007 - 18:09

Birmingham City are set to make a January transfer offer for Real Betis' central defender Melli. The 23 year old is rated as amongst the best young and upcoming players in Spain, and is valued at around £5m.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Melli has taken part in the Spanish national team at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 level. He has, however, made no appearances for the main international side, but the opportunity to play for them will no doubt beckon.

Melli has attracted the interest of both Valencia and Barcelona in the last few seasons, but has so far stayed at Betis.

A move to the Premiership will appeal to the Spaniard, however, and it is believed McLeish wants to add Melli to his defensive line as soon as possible.
