Villarreal slip up in Liga

Villarreal slip up in Liga

02 December 2007 - 21:45

Villarreal failed to continue their impressive La Liga momentum as they slipped up against minnows Valladolid on Sunday evening. The Yellow Submarines have slipped to third after their 2-0 loss.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • Joseba Llorente opened the scoring with a well-placed header in the 18th minute and Victor Fernandez put the visitors in front of a mountain to climb when he added the second in the 56th minute.

Villarreal are third with 28 points just like Barcelona, who have a better goal difference, while Real Madrid are comfortable on the top seed with 32 points.

Elsewhere Deportivo La Coruna registered another deception as they faltered at home against Osasuna 2-1.

The 2002 Champions are now third from bottom with only 13 points from 14 matches.
