Hector Cuper has been sacked by Real Betis following the Seville side's 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid at the weekend. The Argentinian previously managed Inter and Mallorca, and Lorenzo Boucetta is the stand-in coach until further notice.

  • Chelsea set asking price for Nicolas Jackson
  • Man Utd handed major injury boost for Liverpool game
  • "Cuper has proven himself to be a gentleman throughout his time at the head of the team. It is the results that have been the reason for his departure," a statement on Betis' official site read.

The former Inter Milan and Valencia coach, who took charge of Betis in July, left the team second from bottom, with 11 points from 14 games.

Betis said that youth team coach Francisco Chaparro will be at the helm of the Seville-based outfit as successor to Cuper.
