Terry backs Mourinho for England job

04 December 2007 - 20:27

John Terry has backed Jose Mourinho for the England managerial role. The England captain felt that Mourinho was fantastic at Chelsea, and has recommended the Portuguese boss to Brian Barwick at the FA.

  • Chelsea make Malo Gusto transfer decision
  • Arsenal favourites to sign 26yo Newcastle star?
  • The Chelsea and England skipper has said: "Jose came in and took us to a new level at Chelsea. I am very lucky to have worked with Jose - he is a fantastic manager and a fantastic guy. He is one that really stands out for me and could make a big difference."

He added: "He's a great guy, tactically he is very aware, and he understands the game very well.

"He enjoys the day-in, day-out stuff with a club side so maybe it would not suit him, but you never know - it is down to the FA to contact him if they want to speak to him.

"But there are other managers out there that are being talked about who are very good."
