Keane appeal rejected

04 December 2007 - 20:39

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane's appeal for his sending off against Birmingham at the weekend has been rejected. The 27-year-old will now serve a three match ban after his lunge at Birmingham midfielder Fabrice Muamba.

  • Tottenham had argued the decision was harsh and that referee Phil Dowd had consulted with the fourth official before producing the red card.

Tottenham lost the game 3-2 against Birmingham thanks to a last minute goal from another ex-Arsenal midfielder, Sebastian Larsson.

There will be some good news for Tottenham though, as Ledley King looks ever closer to a return from injury after he appeared in a Tottenham reserve match.
