Espanyol keeper not joining Arsenal?

16 July 2014 - 14:02

Arsenal target Kiko Casilla has ruled out leaving Spanish club Espanyol this summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • He has also said that he will not leave the club on a free transfer next year either.

The Gunners, who are in the market for a back-up goalkeeper after Lukasz Fabianski switched to Premier League club Swansea City, have been keeping an eye on Casilla for the past year and were thought to have lined him up as a replacement for Fabianski.

Casilla, who came through the ranks at Real Madrid, is out of contract at Espanyol next summer and there were rumours that the La Liga side may cash in on him this year to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old talented keeper has reassured his club that he will not look to leave for free next year and has expressed his desire to extend his contract.

Wenger's hunt for another goalkeeper has still not ended. He is reportedly closing in for a move for Colombian keeper David Ospina who plays for Ligue 1 club Nice.
