Tiago Mendes rejects Chelsea return

Tiago Mendes has ruled out a move to link up with former manager Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. The midfielder has instead decided to sign a new two year contract at Atletico Madrid.

The central midfielder had been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge but has instead penned a brand new contract at Diego Simeone's side.

The Blues were hoping to bring in some more expeirence to their midfield ahead of the new season, but now Jose Mourinho will be looking to recruit someone else as a different option to Tiago.

Atletico's midfielder has signed a new contract worth 75,000 euros per week.
