Liverpool are reportedly set to switch their attentions to Southampton star Jay Rodriguez, following their failure to seal a deal for Loic Remy.
The Reds were considered to be in pole position to sign the French international from Queens Park Ranger this summer. However, Remy's failure to get through a medical has placed the deal dead in the water, and the Merseysiders will now look at options elsewhere to fill the void left by Luis Suarez, who left the club for Barcelona earlier this month.
According to The Star, Liverpool will make a move for yet another Saints star in Jay Rodriguez, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury.
It is understood that Rodgers is keen on signing the England international even though he would be unable to feature in the initial stages of the Premier League campaign.
