Arsenal ready move for Magpies midfielder

Arsenal are reportedly set to make a bid of around £8m for the services of Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote, according to The Mirror.

The Ivory Coast international was the subject of transfer speculation from a number of clubs last summer, with the Tyneside quoting a £30m fee for his signature.

However, injuries dented his performances last season, and as a result, his transfer value has dipped. According to The Mirror, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on signing a holding midfielder with sufficient Premier League experience and is will open with an £8m offer for the talented African star this week.

Tiote joined the Magpies from Eredivisie outfit Twente in the summer of 2010.
