  • The 33-year-old has been a free-agent since his release from Birmingham City at the end of last season.

According to Serbian publication Sports Journal, Zigic's agent Milan Calasan has revealed that the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has opened up talks over a potential transfer for the veteran striker.

"Wenger called me on Tuesday and stressed his desire to sign Zigic," He said. "He was offered a contract until the end of the year, with a view to it being extended to 2015 – we'll see what happens."

The transfer speculation comes about following a long-term leg injury to star striker Olivier Giroud.
