Newcastle picked up a hugely important victory over Birmingham after Habib Beye scored a last minute goal to give the Toon a 2-1 victory over Birmingham at St. James Park. The victory eases the pressure on Sam Allardyce.
Newcastle had only themselves to blame when they found themselves behind after just 9 minutes. David Rozehnal was badly at fault for Birminghamâs goal. Rafael Schmitz played a long ball forward which David Rozehnal defended badly as he allowed the ball to roll across him and he was then out-paced by Cameron Jerome who easily rounded Shay Given to score.
It only took until 36 minutes as Newcastle came back into the game Martins was brought down for a penalty and the Nigerian took the penalty himself and scored.
At half time, Newcastle certainly looked like the better time as they went in and the fans appreciated their effort.
The game looked as if it was going to end in a draw, until Habib Beye grabbed a last minute goal to give Newcastle the win and send St. James' Park into raptures.
Emre curled the ball beautifully in to the near post and Habib Beye headed the ball into the surface and into the goal for the victory.
A fantastic hard-working performance and Sam Allardyce will feel more comfortable after picking up three important points.
