Marseille are hoping to wrap up a deal to sign out of favour Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa before the end of the transfer window on September 1st. The versatile defender is available for a fee of around 4 million euros.

  • The French international is looking for a return to France after a disappointing season in the Premier League. Yanga-Mbiwa played for Marseille for most of his professional career and impressed enough to earn a call up to the full national side.

After the 37 games for the Toon Army, the player is now ready to return home. Marseille are reportedly ready to talk with Newcastle at the negotiating table regarding a move for the defender and are confident a transfer will be agreed before the transfer window closes.
