Lampard open to contract extension

Frank Lampard suggests he is open to an extended stay at Manchester City

Lampard open to contract extension

26 September 2014 - 18:23

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard suggests that he might be open to the idea of extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The former English international joined Major League Soccer side New York City after spending 15 years at Chelsea this summer.

But with the American season starting in mid-March, the player was loaned out to the Citizens until January next year, after which MLS’ pre-season training will begin.

The 36-year-old has so far had outstanding outings with Manuel Pellegrini’s side, scoring thrice on three appearances for the reigning champions including a goal against his former club in their Premier League game on Sunday, and the Chilean boss has admitted that extending the player’s loan contract is ‘not impossible’.

However Lampard has refused to dwell on his future himself, and insists that he is happy with the Sky Blues and is just focused on the task at hand.

“That will obviously be a club decision first and foremost. I wouldn't want to get too ahead of myself. It's not my place to do that”, the former West Ham United player was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“I'll just train as hard as I can and play as well as I can -  that’s the important thing – then we'll see what happens. I'm signed here until January so that's all I can say at the minute.

“It's been an easy transition. I feel good and I'm really enjoying it here”, he added.
