Adam Lallana feeling the pressure at Liverpool

Lallana: under pressure?

Adam Lallana feeling the pressure at Liverpool

27 September 2014 - 06:00

Liverpool's big summer signing Adam Lallana admits that he is yet to have adjusted to life at Anfield and feels much more pressure at his new club than he felt at his former side, Southampton.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The England international, who grew up as an Everton fan, will take part in his first Merseyside derby this weekend - the 221st in history.

Lallana is feeling the pressure ahead of that huge Premier League game.

"Not for one minute did I think it would be easy, coming to join such a big club. You have to work twice as hard and that's what I'm doing.

"I still feel I am edging towards my best. I don't feel I am there yet, but I knew it would take time with me missing preseason," said Lallana.

"There is definitely more pressure there. It is something you cannot quite explain unless you have experienced it yourself.

"There is that difference when you pull on a Liverpool shirt. But it is a great feeling as well.

"The best way to overcome the expectation is to just try to enjoy the football.

On his favourite childhood club, Everton, Lallana quipped: "Everton always seemed to be fighting relegation when I was supporting them. I seem to remember there were a lot of tears."
