Real Madrid target Memphis Depay

Spanish club looking to sign Depay as a mid-season boost in January

Real Madrid target Memphis Depay

03 October 2014 - 18:41

Spanish giants Real Madrid are plotting a new year’s move for PSV Eindhoven star Memphis Depay, despite the player having committed his long term future to the Dutch outfit last month.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The 20-year-old had been heavily linked to a move to Premier League sides Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur throughout the summer, but the Red and Whites were successful in keeping the winger at Philips Stadion.

Depay penned a new four year deal with PSV in August, but according to reports in Spanish daily AS, this has not deterred the La Liga club, who have set their sights on the youngster.

The 11-times capped Netherlands player was a part of the Oranje’s squad that finished third in the World Cup in Brazil this year.

He has made 90 appearances across all tournaments for the Eredivisie club since his debut in 2011 and has scored on 32 occasions.

Depay had an outstanding start to the new season netting the ball five times in five league appearances and thrice in three Europa League fixtures, but is currently facing a few weeks on the side-lines due to a groin injury.
